Austin Shapard is currently a Senior Advisor to Fiduciary Trust Company. Between 2014 and 2026, he was President, CEO & Chairman of Fiduciary. During this time, he transformed and modernized the 140-year old firm while maintaining its long-standing values and focus on client service. Prior to joining Fiduciary, Mr. Shapard spent more than eight years with Rockefeller & Co., the global wealth management firm, in various leadership positions including President & COO and Vice Chairman. Before Rockefeller, Mr. Shapard was an Associate Principal at McKinsey & Co. where he counseled asset managers, trust companies, private banks and other financial institutions on a range of tactical and strategic issues.
In addition to advising Fiduciary, Mr. Shapard is Chairman of the Waycrosse Investment Advisory Committee and a Director of the Yarrow Trust Company. An engaged industry participant, he is an advisory member of The UHNW Institute and has spoken or been a panelist at various industry conferences and universities, including: The World Economic Forum at Davos, Harvard Business School, Wharton Private Equity Conference, Family Wealth Alliance and Family Office Exchange. To date, he has been a director or chairman of six different regulated trust companies operating under Delaware, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Massachusetts, New York and OCC regulations.
He is active with several non-profit organizations and is currently a board member of The Boston Athenaeum, The Anthony Trust Association and The Provident Loan Society of New York. Most recently, he was Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, Massachusetts.
Mr. Shapard received an MBA in Finance and Entrepreneurial Management from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a BA in History from Yale College.
He lives with his wife, Abigail Lash, and their two daughters in New York City.
