Fredda Herz Brown is widely recognized for her groundbreaking work with enterprising families and their trusted advisors.
From her numerous contributions over a quarter century, she has helped to establish standards of professional practice and develop the body of knowledge which defines the work of the field to this day.
Her early focus on families emerged out of a research project examining successful first-to-second generation transitions at a world-renowned postgraduate training center in family systems work, which she co-founded. A founding board member of the Family Firm Institute, she has served on the editorial review board of its journal, Family Business Review.
Fredda has been the recipient of several awards acknowledging her contributions to professional practice. A prolific writer, speaker and workshop facilitator, she is the author of “Reweaving the Family Tapestry” (Norton; 1991), which encapsulated her model for understanding and working with families as they evolve through their life cycle.
Fredda works with Dr. Fran Lotery in conducting research and development for Relative Solutions’ Family Enterprise Leadership System© (FELS) – the only leadership assessment framework and interactive tool of its kind for the field.
She has also continued the firm’s tradition for strategic collaborations, such as the 2010 Women in Wealth Study with Campden Media. Most recently, she has led the firm in collaborating with 21/64, the non-profit consulting division of the Andrea and Charles Bronfman Philanthropies, to produce two card decks for family members.
In November 2012 Fredda and colleague Dr. Fran Lotery released “The Family Wealth Sustainability Toolkit.” The groundbreaking online interactive assessment tool, and its companion manual, was published by John Wiley & Sons, Inc. The online tool is accessible through a partnership with Wiley.com. The Family Wealth Sustainability Toolkit is available at Amazon.com.
