The Adventures of Family Conflict: Practical Wisdom & Skills
Our next Masterclass is designed for advisors who want to strengthen their ability to support families through the tension, emotion and complexity that conflict can bring.
Led by domain chairs Stacy Allred (Family Learning & Development), Arne Boudewyn (Family Dynamics) and Moira Somers (Family Advisory Relationships), this session takes a cross-domain approach to understanding and working with family conflict. This Masterclass offers a closer look at the roots of family conflict:
- What’s contributing to rising estrangement
- Why conflict tends to be avoided
- How certain patterns can quietly unravel relationships over time
Advisors will build skills to support families in shifting harmful narratives, strengthening connections across generations and restoring trust when it’s been lost. The session also invites participants to reflect on their own presence in the room and how they can:
- Remain grounded in tense moments
- Set healthy boundaries
- Recognize when responses may be shaping the outcomes
This session is designed as a practical training opportunity and does not require prior attendance at other Institute events.
