This month, we’re shining a spotlight on Mel Lagomasino, one of the founding members of The UHNW Institute.
After decades of working with ultra-high-net-worth families, Mel and a group of fellow professionals saw a gap in the industry: There was no dedicated place to bring together the knowledge, experience and disciplines required to serve families with complex, multigenerational wealth.
That shared need helped give rise to the Institute. Mel saw an opportunity to create a think tank where professionals could learn from one another, share best practices and case studies, establish standards and help build the next generation of advisors.
For Mel, that learning never stops. Even after decades in the profession, she says the Institute continues to expose her to new ideas and new ways of thinking about the work. It is also, in her words, a “home” for professionals who believe they can make a meaningful difference in the lives of the families they serve.
Watch the video to hear Mel reflect on why she helped found the Institute, what makes this community different and why building the profession remains a collective responsibility.
